LYA
E-Bulletin May 2005
Welcome
to the first of our network e-bulletins. Our
goal is to provide you with up to date information about your Association
and on all the issues and news on youth work and the voluntary sector.
LYA
Funding News
The
Association has recently secured major funding from the Rank Foundation,
Burnley Urban 2 Programme, The Lloyds TSB Foundation and the Duchy
of Lancaster Benevolent Fund to support a number of new posts over
the next two to three years.
Trainee
Youth Worker posts
With
this funding we have appointed three Trainee Youth Workers, Ben
Brotherton, Roxanne Newton and Kayleigh Wainwright. Ben and Roxanne
are based in Burnley at the Association's Youth Action Project on
Fraser Street and they will be supporting five local residents and
community groups to provide a range of new and exiting youth work
opportunities, including outdoor, sports and arts based activities,
whilst undertaking the diploma in Youth Work. Kayleigh, based in
Blackburn with the Roe lee Area Residents Association, will provide
a programme of youth work for local people, whilst completing her
Diploma in Higher Education with St Martins College Lancaster.
Network
Quality Standards Support post
To
provide additional and long overdue support for member youth groups,
we have appointed Shelley Aspin with the funding from the Duchy
of Lancaster Benevolent Fund to join our Administration team on
Fishergate Hill. Shelley will provide a dedicated ‘hot line' to
members on all quality standards matters. This includes: staff vetting;
CRB disclosure checks and Child Protection Policies; plus all matters
relating to Health & Safety and risk assessments. Shelley can
be contacted Monday – Friday, from 8.30 to 4pm on 01772 556127.
The Association identified and secured this funding in anticipation
of the new requirements of the insurance scheme and please contact
us if ever you in need of support on any of the related matters.
