LYA E-Bulletin October 2005

LYA NEWS

Welcome to new readers of the Association’s regular e-newsletter and thank you to everyone who came along to our Annual General Meeting in September and the Ensuring Youth Matters event at County Hall. Members approved the new Vision and Mission statements at the AGM plus a modest membership fee increase for next year.

Over 100 people attended the Ensuring Youth Matters event, jointly sponsored by the Association and the Council for Voluntary Youth Services, and guest speakers provided a useful background to the changes, which the Government plans to introduce for children and young people. Young people had the opportunity to inform the audience about their work and many of those present received awards in recognition of their contribution to the lives of others and their communities.

The Youth Matters consultation period lasts until 4th November and you can access the questionnaire from our website by clicking the link below. I would be grateful if you could forward any responses to this consultation to me by 21st October and I will ensure that these are forwarded to the DfES by the due date.
